Vintage children's books, japanese woodblock prints, comic books (including indie comic book artists), classic graphic design, other friends and artists, my fantastic teachers and mentors, Rob Clayton, Jason Holley, Bob Kato, Steve Turk, Mark Todd, Esther Watson, Alex Gross, Aaron Smith, Jim Heimann and Jeff Smith.

Josh was raised in Taiwan where he spent many hours of the day reading novels and drawing. He's moved a bunch of times, lived in three different countries, and owned a variety of fishes and dogs. He got his first big break from Steven Heller at the New York Times Book Review, and since then has worked for clients such as, McSweeney's, The New York Times Magazine, Texas Monthly, Swindle Quarterly, The Boston Globe, Runner's World, MTV, EA Sports, Nike, BuckLA, Ocean Monsters, Early Dolphin, Aurther, and Fishwrap Mag.
Recognition from some publications include: American Illustration 24, Communication Arts (June 2005) and the Society of Illustrators, New York 46, 47.
