Calef Brown is an illustrator, painter and writer. Since graduating from Art Center College of Design he has worked as a freelance illustrator for Time, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, The New York Times, and numerous other newspapers and magazines. He has created art for advertising, CD and book covers, murals and packaging.
His first children's book, Polkabats and Octopus Slacks is in its fifth printing,this was followed by a companion volume , Dutch Sneakers and Fleakeepers, and in 2003, Tippintown: A Guided Tour. A 64 page book of poetry and paintings titled Flamingos on the Roof will be published in April 2006 by Houghton Mifflin.
His paintings and drawings have been exhibited in galleries in New York , Los Angeles and San Francisco, and in 2000, he was included in "America Illustrated", the inaugural exhibit at the new National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome.
Mr. Brown lives and works in Pasadena California.
