eBoy was founded in 1998 by Steffen Sauerteig, Svend Smital and Kai Vermehr with the acquisition of the eBoy.com domain. The basic idea driving eBoy was the embracement of the new possibilities of emerging digital world. Pictures could be copied as many times as necessary if they were digital -- no printing and low production costs. Data could be sent to the most distant placed of the globe in seconds.
The work had to be designed specifically for the screen and so eBoy went the pixel way. This way there was 100% of control what would happen on the screen. Pixels felt quite good and were big fun handling. Also eBoy decided to only feature freestyle stuff on it's website.
Soon the word spread, and magazines began writing about the eBoy universe.
Clients as MTV.com, Adidas and many more have hired eBoy and the so called "pixel style" begun to spread all over the world.
