Richard attended Central Saint Martins College in London England as a fine art painting undergraduate in the early 1990s. He went onto do a Postgraduate degree in Illustration at the same college only escaping its comfy clutches in 2000. After half-hearted stints as a college administrator and a New Media animator Richard became a freelance illustrator, a job he's been doing since 2001. Richard has worked for numerous editorial, design and advertising clients in the UK, Europe, Canada and the US. A partial list of commissioners includes The Guardian, The Independent, The Times, New Statesman, The Telegraph, the FT, Esquire, American Airlines, The NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, Utne, Plansponsor, the BBC, Mother and Grey. Richard has won the (UK) Association of Illustrators Gold awards in their last two annual, juried shows (Images 31, 32) for Editorial and Uncommissioned work. He has also won a Gold medal from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles (Illustration West 46) and a Silver medal from the Society of Illustrators in New York (Illustrators 50).
