Welcome to ICONIC! Episode 10!!!!
Can you believe it? I can't, but I think its pretty darn cool! Thank you all for listening to ICONIC and for spreading the word about the show. We have some great guest coming up that I can't say right now but I will slowly leak over the next couple weeks.... Also thank you so much to Nate and my crew for all there support and collaborative efforts with ICONIC.
One side note with this show is it was recorded before the illustration mundo merger. You will here me talk about the Merger on next week's show.
Now back to the show!
Episode 10 is a big one for us folks, because in the land of podcast this is where they die so I just want to let everyone know out there that I am having a lot fun and see no stopping at this point.
This show is titled "the education of an illustrator"
Our Guest today is Whitney Sherman, chair of illustration at the the Maryland Institude Collage of Arts.
In this three part series I talked to whitney about how the changing fields of illustration, business and education mingle.
Whitney Sherman is a strong force in the illustration world. She is a very dedicated and advocate for illustration. She has served on the board of ICON3 and ICON4.
Trained as a photographer, self-taught in illustration and design, Whitney Sherman's work has been consistently represented in American Illustration, Communication Arts, AIGA among others
Some of her exhibitions include: Dialogue: The Fine Art of Conversation [a traveling exhibition to the Susan & Peter Barnett Gallery, Santa Monica, CA] The Art of the Stamp at the National Postal Museum, Washington, DC; The Art of Transportation at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission Gallery.
She also illustrated one of most successful stamps in the us postal service with her
Breast Cancer Research stamp. The stamp has raised over $37 million dollars for research and is the longest running stamp in the history of the United States Postal Service issues.
I am very pleased to talk to Whitney about this sometimes difficult subject. Please help me welcome Whitney Sherman.
