Trained as a graphic designer, David Plunkert made the jump to illustration fifteen years ago and has had the honor of working with a long list of editorial and advertising clients. His clients include Capitol Records, Rolling Stone, Time, Nike, Gatorade, MTV, Sports Illustrated and many others. His early work was inspired by Dada and Constuctivist artists. Recently, he has added a distinct second style to his portfolio which relies heavily on geometric forms. His work has been collected by the Museum fur Kunst Und Gerwebe in Hamburg, the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum, the University of California Design Museum, and the Library of Congress.
He and his wife Joyce Hesselberth founded Spur Design, a graphic design and illustration studio, in 1995. From their renovated industrial building in Baltimore, they've been able to work on a wide range of creative design and illustration projects. They now enjoy quiet weekends out in the country with their three kids, two cats, and the biggest spiders you have ever seen.
