A couple of years ago I worked on a personal series called War of Words, which focused on 10 universal, modern arguments: Love, politics, sports, protests, customer service, friendship, parenthood, childhood, religion, and self. I thought it would be exhibited back then, either in New York or Buenos Aires, where I have most of my connections, but I didn’t have time to shop it around the fine arts world, and nothing ever happened beyond getting a few silver medals and some good print exposure- no complaints.
Last year, when I was opening a solo exhibit at the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires, finally a real gallerist, Fernando Entin from Elsi del Rio, approached me. My dream had come true: I would finally be represented by a reputable gallery back home.
He had been following my career for quite a few years, he said, and he loved my work. He wanted to give me a solo show next year, 2010, while Arte BA was taking place, which is the equivalent to the Armory Show in New York or Art Basel in Miami, and the best time to have work up.
So here I am, exhibiting something I created a few years back- but I still feel proud of- with only 2 additional pieces I did for this show replacing the Love War, which is owned by the Society of Illustrators of New York, and the Self War, which is the punch line of the show and I felt deserved to be in Spanish. Here is that one:
Those of you who’re in Buenos AIres, I hope you can make it!
Opening: Monday, May 3rd, 7-10 PM (thru July 3rd, 2010)
